However my best experience with them came from a car that wasn't mine. As part of a charity program I was helping a family get back on their feet. The night before she was to start a new job they had a tire blow out. J and R held their shop open late to help her keep that new job. That's going above and beyond, and it's why I take my cars to J and R.
I called the day before to set up an appointment for an estimation. I came in the next day to my appointment and they didn't have me down and had to take in my information again. I told them I needed to get three estimations for work on my car and needed to be done with in one hour so I could go to the next place on time. I let them know I have small children and that I want this car to be in good running condition so they are safe. They gave me a estimation and charged me $46 for it. When I asked why they were charging they said that is took them time to check the car over and they needed to pay their employees for that time and that they could have charged my $70 or $80. I said I have never been charged for an estimate. The man told me that that was how he did business. I paid and left to go to the other shops for my other estimations. When I went to the other places they didn't charge me anything for their inspections and estimations! They said that J&R should not charge as well. When I got home I called and talked to the same man from J&R that I saw and he told me that he thought I was just dropping the car off to get worked on and that I wasn't going anywhere else for estimations. He also told me if he knew I just wanted an estimate to submit for a third party to pay for the work he would not have done as thorough a check on my car and would have just gone with his gut feeling about problems with my car not looked into it! That made me feel ill. I have children that I want to be safe in my car and he would have cut corners if he had know I wasn't paying for the work by myself!!! Why do my children and I get a lesser service if I am not paying him out of my pocket directly! I FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST and will not go back there again.

I do most of the mechanical work on my automobiles. There are a few things that I cannot do because I do not have special tools found mainly in shops. Many shops try to sell you a lot of unnecessary service. I am a transplant from NH. It took me a long time to find an honest good mechanic in NH. After moving to Crossville, I tried another mechanic for a complete safety inspection, and they missed several things and wanted to replace the steering rack which they claimed was leaking oil.(which was oil drip when the oil filter was replaced.) - they were no good. This time I needed a shop to do an alignment after replacing tie rod ends. J&R did a great job and found that the ball joints were frozen (something that the other shop missed). J&R did not try to sell me anything, and allowed me to replaced them myself , and then they redid the alignment for no additional cost. I have found a good honest shop here in Crossville which will do my work and I will recommend them highly. Thank you
I LOVE this place. I've owned several cars over the years and these guys are the ones I trust with the vehicles that carry my wife and daughter. Clean, professional, and reasonably priced, you know what you are getting into up front. They have done everything from oil changes to an engine replacement for me.
