I love this school. Went there as a kid and moved back to Crossville to make sure my kids could go there. So many great people work there. The teacher and staff are awesome.
To keep a parent from their child any time of day is outrageous, but when school is over??? This is so unbelievable!!! I hope this sheriff was fired!! He was the one being unreasonable! Shame on the school if they didn't fire him!! I would yank my kids so fast out of this school!!! I hope he wins his lawsuit and the school pays through the nose!!

Please assign a less hysterical officer to patrol Cumberland Elementary School. Consider allowing parents to walk and pick their children up. The school appears to be a lovely and I'm sure the school administrators can embrace policies that will be logical and fair. I just saw the video of the fathers ridiculously unnecessary arrest. It disturbed me enough to write this at midnight when I have to get up early for work in the morning.
My nieces and nephews attended here. Thought about it myself at some point. Glad I made the decision to stay away from this school. Heard many bad things. This recent thing with making kids sign they can walk home unattended is just stupid. It shows a clear lack of good decision making by upper faculty. And if the "security" they have here is in gross violation of use of power, as indicated in recent videos, This is definitely not a safe place for children...
If you research the news, you will find that the Superintendent of schools in this Tennessee town has sided with the Sheriff. I guess you actually can get arrested for picking up your own child from school in Tennessee. This blows my mind. I guess that Constitution doesn't hold any weight in this place! Disgusting! What have we become in this society? This is an embarrassment! I hope the ACLU steps up to this one!!!
