I Called Ron a bit ago looking for a 22r engine. He said he had one for $400 with 160k-170k miles. Not too bad of a deal I thought. I was even going to pull the engine myself. I loaded up all my tools, my old engine core, and set out on the 3.5 hour drive to his place. Upon arrival, the place was decently organized, and I saw he had quite the selection of trucks and parts. When we went to the truck I was to remove the engine from, I was notified it had been sitting two years with the hood haphazardly placed over the engine. Great, glad we hear this now. I was able to turn the engine over with a wrench, but it was very stiff. When I checked the cluster, I saw that the engine had not 150k, not 250k, but 300,000 miles! You couldn't pay me to pull an engine with that many miles to install in my truck. Needless to say, I wasted a whole day's time, fuel, and energy. He doesn't have the demeanor of a crook. Just make sure you know exactly what you're getting yourself into before you drive across the state. He did offer another engine with UNKNOWN miles for $800. He also offered to sell me a full truck for $1200. Now that's not a bad price, but its not like I could load a Toyota on top of my truck and drive down the interstate 3.5 hours home. I won't be going back for anything.
