Service and food quality has been steadily going down hill. Last Friday night was the worst. We got there about 5pm, only 8-10 other people in restaurant. I ordered the nachos because I was told they would be exactly like the nachos I get at Stonehenge. Took 20 minutes to get the nachos and a slider burger and cole slaw for my guest. The nachos were nothing like what I get at Stonehenge,. It was small, had almost nothing but chips and a little bit of cheese and it appeared to be cold. I pushed it aside and waited for the waiter to come back. He should have known because he's been my waiter at Stonehenge when I order the nachos. He said he would see about making it right. Meanwhile another 10 minutes goes by before he comes back and said they are going to comp my meal. I asked if I was supposed to order something else and he said I could. So I ordered the cod fish basket. While waiting for that the manager came by and said he was going to comp my meal. I waited almost 30 minutes for that fish, then had to gulp it down in 5 minutes because we had to leave. As I was gulping that down the manager came by and asked if that was better for me and I said it's ok, except that I have to practically inhale it because we have to leave. He said he was going to comp that other meal. I stated that I never ate that meal. We waited another 15 minutes for the bill, and all they did was deduct the price of the nachos....THAT I NEVER ATE....THAT THEY SCREWED UP. Manager acts like he did something for me....YEAH YOU DID, you ruined my dinner among other things and created a bit of frustration. Where is the comp meal for screwing up and wasting our time. You should have comped both meals. We didn't get out of there until 6:30 when we needed to leave by 6:00. Horrible service, terrible management. It's just like their Thanksgiving dinner, we've been going for the past several years, and for the last 4 years I have been asking for sugar free deserts or something for diabetics....and every year they have nothing. I must be the only person who eats there that has to be concerned about sugar. That's ok, because we won't be back this year or any other year, or any other day or week of the year.
Great steak that Tammy and I had tonight and great service and prices.
Avoid the Thanksgiving and Christmas buffet events. Apparently some old bitties complained about the last catering service (which there was nothing to complain about) and the club fired them and hired another service. Absolutely horrid now. Half the food selection, and it was ice cold. Ice cream bar is now gone, as well as any variety whatsoever. Turkey was some kind of gelatin mess. Whipped Potatoes at below room temp, and Mac and Cheese that tasted like tap water. Absolutely no seasoning to the food at all, cause the new service figured "Hey, it's just old people, right?" No, it's not an old folks home. Folks from this area invite family from all over, of every age, to enjoy this. Now it's ruined. This fast became a family tradition and something we looked forward to attending. Not anymore. Going back to cooking at home.
This place was one of the best meals of my trip. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, the chocolate cake was delicious, and the servers were attentive. We had a party of 13 and we were all satisfied.
Food was tasty. Server was pleasant. Going back again tonight.
Next time, how about we don't knee jerk react to a handful of malcontents who feel they need to stick their fat noses into something good, and fire the catering service? My advice: BEG THEM to come back.
